Happy Birthday Malaysia!

August 30, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Ah. Merdeka once again. The celebration of Independence. The birthday of our dearly beloved Malaysia. Splendid. Hurrah. (where are the flags?)

What’s Merdeka without touchy-feely TV commercials eh? Catch this one from Proton.

Jalur Gemilang – Where the hell are you?

August 25, 2006 · 2 Comments

I’d really like to do something for Merdeka. I mean it IS our Independence Day. I’d like to fly the flag to show support. But where in heaven’s name do I get the elusive Jalur Gemilang?

Ideas anyone?

A podium finish at R3TA 4dot6, Penang!

August 16, 2006 · 6 Comments

The fourth round of the R3 Time Attack Championships held over the weekend in Batu Kawan, Penang, saw some very hot action, and as expected, competition was as intense as ever towards the end of the Championships.

I scored my best finish to date, with an unexpected second place finish behind a very fast Gareth Tan, and beating current points leader Julian Pang and Ian Khong in the process. I was mostly off-pace the whole two days. One reason being our less-than-optimal tire set-up. Firstly running on my worn Yokohama AD07s during practice on Saturday, then suffering a leaky rear right semi-slicks during race day. We had to settle for my AD07 road tires for the rear. Running the leaking Type-RR semi-slicks would have been risky.

Despite that setback, I made some adjustments to gearing, braking points and overall pushed harder in my last run, and to my surprise, shaved 3 seconds off my previous time to finish behind Faidzil Alang (R3’s works driver) and Gareth Tan. Faidzil being a works driver is not considered in the final positions.

Happy to have come off with the win, the valuable points pushing me up to 5th place overall, just 1 point beneath my partner Stanley, who also did quite well with a 6th place finish. I am 5 points behind Ian Khong who occupies 3rd place. We’ll see what happens in 5dot6, the final round!

What’s golden, furry and adorable? No, it’s not Marilyn Monroe

August 8, 2006 · 8 Comments

He’s got a gold mane, he’s gentle, intelligent, absolutely adorable. Meet Zen. The latest addition to the family. Thanks to the two ladies at ProjectSaveTheDogs – Mel and Vinsie, this year-old thoroughbred Golden Retriever has found a new home :)

Picked him up on Saturday, the slightly malnourished fella. My current resident dog and protector of all things good – Bond, our Labrador-mongrel hybrid, wasn’t too happy and really showed his displeasure by being absolutely menacing and aggressive towards his new timid housemate.

Bond was incredibly jealous, and especially when I stroked Zen.

It’s been more than a day now, and they have since gotten used to each other’s presence, Bond slowly but surely accepting Zen. His hostility initially has subsided, except for moments when he wants attention. He’d growl in Zen’s presence to get him to back off.

One half of my dream fulfilled. Now to get another Retriever! :)

One of those what-the-fcuk-just-happened days

August 3, 2006 · 6 Comments

Have you ever had a day when you went “What the fcuk? What just happened? Why is this happening?”.

Hmm. I got a taste of it yesterday. For one, and this started in the wee hours of the morning, my car alarm decided to just fcuk up and be absurdly crazy. It triggers every couple of minutes, and being a two-way alarm system, I get a warning beep all the way up on the 17th floor. Doesn’t sound so bad, but beeps every couple of minutes starting from 6-7am in the morning. Not funny.

Frustratingly enough, the problem did not go away when I got to the office. Could it be a transmitter problem, I thought. I resetted the alarm, checked the doors, armed and disarmed. No luck. I called Radiostar and they suspected a transmitter or shock sensor problem. Fantastic. Apart from driving it Radiostar in Old Town, PJ, I could do shit nothing to stop the annoying beeping and blaring. Shoved the remote into my office drawer and proceeded the day.

All wasn’t that well at the office either. A huge set of ads we sent up to our 5-star hotel client overseas was almost immediately shot down. The disappointed client stringed words like “disappointed to say the least”, “..something from the 80s”, “3-star”. Funny, we were aligned with the brief. On an end note, he mentioned he does not want to comment or give feedback on ads made for 3-star hotels!

Swell.

*beep* *beep* *beep*

Oh shut the fcuk up.

The alarm continues to blare throughout the day and there was nothing I could do.

Anyways, not only were things stupendously frustrating at the office, my love life took a mighty big turn. Apparently, I am still in love with some ex-gf. That, according to my current boo, as fed by a source. The source, I know, is a mutual friend. That friend, no doubt, is no longer a friend any longer, to put it kindly.

To the blind mole and rat of a friend who’s caused all this. A big fcuk you.

Original Imitation. Genuine copy.

Nothing is original. Everything’s a clone.

Based on, inspired by… something else.

Ideas recycled.

Recycled ideas, regurgitated and reused.

Have you seen that before? You probably have.

Hey, isn’t that familiar? Perhaps. Most likely.
